Christmas Lunch

lunch bag

For the last five or so Christmases we have been making and delivering lunches to the homeless. Even though we lean more towards celebrating Winter Solstice we must honor the times we live in. We make about 20 lunches, and it costs about $200. I am not going to knock non-profits today but sometimes grassroots and do it yourself has its place too. Non-profits have to pay a lot of people to run programs. This includes writing grants, organizing programs, a paid person to organize volunteers, etc. Most of this depends on how big the non-profit is. The bigger the non-profit the more your donation money goes to supporting systems and not programs. So we do it ourselves because we know a non-profit can not make 20 lunches the way we make them, BIG and FAT, for $200. The huge plus is we feel deeply connected to the people and know exactly what we are doing to help others. As Human Beings we are here to live as clans, tribes and/or communities, and that means supporting ALL Human Beings. Support is emotional as well as physical so we do both, even if that means dealing with some of the unpleasantness of folks in the throes of addiction or for those who are mentally challenged.

We realize we are brainwashed to view such people as dangerous but we do not totally subscribe to that. We also realize the higher the top the lower the bottom and in a society where there are 614 billionaires and where an average American income is about $80000 it is hard for most of us to image that bottom.

Enough blabbing for now. The video will let you see the process-

I watch the human drama unfold, a tragedy at best. I watch the Mother, earth, as she dances ever closer to imperfect harmony. I watch the human's try to control her exquisite ballet. I prefer to dance!
